The Kuomintang of China[3] (English pronunciation: /ˌkwoʊmɪnˈtɑːŋ/ or /-ˈtæŋ/)[4] (KMT); (Hanyu Pinyin: Guómíndǎng, GMD), translated as the Chinese Nationalist Party or Chinese National People's Party,[5] is a political party of the Republic of China (Taiwan) whose guiding ideology is the Three Principles of the People. It can be seen romanized as Guomindang (according to the Pinyin transcription system) in some contexts. It is the founding and currently the ruling political party of the ROC. The headquarters of the KMT are located in Taipei, Taiwan and it is currently the majority party in terms of seats in the Legislative Yuan, and the oldest political party in the Republic of China. The KMT is a member of the International Democrat Union.
