There are several religious groups named Brethren that are not related to the Schwarzenau Brethren movement. The Moravian Brethren are not related to the Schwarzenau Brethren. The Plymouth Brethren arose in England and Ireland early in the 19th century. The United Brethren originated in 18th century Pennsylvania with William Otterbein and Martin Boehm. The River Brethren movement apparently adopted the view of triune immersion from the Schwarzenau Brethren. The Apostolic United Brethren is a sect within the Latter Day Saint movement and is not related to the Schwarzenau Brethren.
